The insurance only pays for 10 days of nursing care. The family has been unable to find any government program that will help pay for round the clock care. Cost is estimated at $20,000 per month.

Specialized medical equipment and supplies for quadriplegic's not covered by insurance.

For example, Sip 'n' Puff systems, lift systems, FES bike, specialized phone and computer systems. Frequent flier miles for family members to be with Scott and family in San Diego.

Materials and labor to modify home for handicap accessibility.

Insurance does not pay for any home modifications. Only the absolute necessary modifications are being done at this time. More modifications will be needed later. Cost at this time $100,000.

Critical care flights between Denver and San Diego.

The insurance is denying coverage for the flights at this time. The family has appealed this decision. Cost for both flights $21,800.

Uncovered hospital and rehabilitation care costs.

The insurance covers 60 days of rehab most of which was spent healing a level 4 wound. The insurance stopped paying on July 13th. However, the family is appealing the insurance’s decision to stop coverage but at this time they are responsible for all uncovered medical costs. One month stay at Craig Hospital is $90,000.
